Polk City Town Square Named 1 of 9 Prettiest in Iowa

by jgschreier 7/26/2016

The Des Moines Register recently named Polk City's town square as one of the nine prettiest town squares in Iowa.  Among the other cities to share this distinction were Winterset, Pella, and Oskaloosa.

The Des Moines Register had this to say about Polk City's town square:

"Polk City Square has a bandstand in the center of the park that was built by William Schaal in 1883. There is also a replica of the bell that came out of the Polk City School on display. In the tree-lined park, you’ll also find seating, sidewalks and a playground. The square is home to the annual Four Seasons Festival and is surrounded by restaurants, shop and other local businesses."
