Federal Flood Insurance Now Available for Polk City Local Property Owners

by Jake Schreier 2/25/2015

The City of Polk City was recently approved to enter into the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).  The City started working towards being a part of this program on February 12, 2014.  A Public Hearing held last September 22 led to three separate readings of an ordinance required before applying to enter in the NFIP.  The ordinance was passed on October 27, 2014.  Within less than a month’s time Polk City sent its application into Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for approval.  FEMA approved Polk City’s application on December 1, 2014 and flood insurance officially became available to local property owners on January 1, 2015.

If you or someone you know in Polk City would like to apply for or needs more information on this newly available federally backed flood insurance, please visit Polk City’s National Flood Insurance Program webpage.
