GIS-City Maintenance Worker

Youth Services Librarian

The ideal candidate is excited about providing outstanding service to youth and their caregivers. This position will be responsible for planning and administering programs and promoting literacy to the community in a variety of ways including outreach. The individual best suited for this position must have excellent communication skills; a competence in technology; be creative, positive and promote excellent customer service. Applicants should have knowledge of developmental stages and current trends in library services and materials for children and young adults. This candidate must have the ability to build and maintain relationships with co-workers and library patrons. Responsibilities include : planning, implementing and marketing all youth programming; selecting, collection management for children and teens; and providing reader’s advisory services to patrons in the library. Qualifications : A minimum of one year’s experience working with youth in a library setting, or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training. MLIS/MLS degree not required, but considered a plus If a candidate does not have a MLIS/MLS degree, he/she must be able to obtain a Professional Librarian’s Certificate issued by the State Library of Iowa within one year of the date of hire. Salary : $35,000-$40,000 dependent on education and experience.
